Regional climate change modeling and observations for Korea
Abstract
We discuss modeling and observations of regional processes and their effects on the climate system in Korea. Such regional processes and hazards include vegetation distribution, ecosystem function, anthropogenic pollution from megacities, dust storms from East Asia deserts and arid areas, and overall stresses on the ecosystems. Technologies of remote sensing and GIS can be utilized to create an integrated environment. Observations can be used to track changes predicted by model runs such as dynamical vegetation models and mesoscale modeling. We will present current results and plans for the future.
