A lagoon sediment record of barrier dynamics: Pescadero, Central Coast California

Back-barrier lagoon sediments preserve a record of barrier dynamics in response to coastal and catchment processes over the long-term. This research presents a high-resolution record of particle size that enables an understanding of temporal patterns in barrier integrity to be established. These data show phases of very different barrier behaviour over the last 200 years or so as well as decadal(?) variability, and thus contributes to the formulation of future management priorities.
