Comparison of Stochastic and Wavelet Analyses of Spatial Variability of Hydraulic Conductivity and Hydraulic Head
Abstract
Both wavelet analysis and stochastic analysis can be used to analyze spatial variability of material properties or system states. Both methods have been used to explore the spatial variability of hydraulic conductivity and hydraulic head in aquifers. We compare the information available through stochastic analysis, such as variance, covariance, and correlation length, with information available through wavelet analysis, such as local and global wavelet spectra and dominant length scales.
