Argus 1000 Measurements and Analysis of Carbon Dioxide Concentrations Near Forest Fires in Russia
Abstract
The Argus 1000 instrument made spectral measurements of the atmosphere above dozens of wildfires burning in the Moscow region on August 13 2010. An analysis of collected data is presented focusing on concentrations of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide within the ash cloud, with the latter being reported as being up to three times the regular concentration. The retrieved spectra are compared to theoretical simulations created using the GENSPECT retrieval process along with a comparison to atmospheric measurements made at a similar altitude.
