NGC 4190-ULX1: The nearest unstudied ultraluminous X-ray source
Abstract
Although it ranks amongst the nearest (at d ~ 3 Mpc) and brightest (flux ~ 4e-12 erg/cm^2/s) ULXs, NGC 4190-ULX1 has not yet been studied in the modern era of X-ray astronomy. Here we propose two 25-ks XMM-Newton observations to provide a first detailed view of it's X-ray properties. We will investigate the specific characteristics of the X-ray spectral and temporal data of the source, and contrast them with other low-luminosity (~10^39 erg/s) ULXs to provide new insights into this hitherto neglected class of objects.
