The X-Ray, SZ, and Optical Scaling Relations of Massive Galaxy Clusters
Abstract
A multi-wavelength approach to cluster cosmology is necessary to overcome systematic uncertainties in the relation between cluster mass and observable mass tracers. We propose short observations of 12 of the 25 richest optical clusters in the redshift range 0.2<z<0.3 from the volume-limited maxBCG catalog, to be suplemented with archival Chandra data of the remaining clusters, as well as new and archival SZ measurements with the Sunyaev-Zeldovich Array. The simple selection function of these clusters will allow us to measure the scaling relations and covariances between X-ray, SZ, and optical mass estimators. The results of this pilot study will lay the foundations for performing joint analysis of future cluster surveys, such as the DES, eROSITA, and SPT cluster surveys.
