Differences and analogies between linearly chirped and colored double pulses in the femtosecond regime
Abstract
A mathematical description is reported that allows the comparison of femtosecond colored double pulses and linearly chirped pulses with Gaussian spectra. Formulas are presented for the corresponding momentary angular frequencies of the two parameterizations and a relation is derived so that they match at the two moments in time when the double pulses are most intense. In a liquid-phase intrapulse-dumping experiment, the performance of the two pulse shape types is directly juxtaposed. Their applicability in other phase-sensitive processes is also briefly discussed.
