Turbulence Modeling in Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Methodology: Application in Nozzle Flow
Abstract
This work is an initial attempt to develop a Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics computational method able to simulate turbulent fluid flows. The methodology is applied for modeling the flow field in the nozzle injector of action hydraulic turbines. Several turbulence models were implemented and their performance is compared with the Volume of Fluid continuous method and with corresponding measurements in a Laboratory model.
