Validation and Analysis of the Release 3.0 of the NASA GEWEX Surface Radiation Budget Dataset

The Release 3.0 of the NASA GEWEX Surface Radiation Budget (SRB) dataset is described and validated against the Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) data, the World Radiation Data Centre (WRDC) data, and the Global Energy Balance Archive (GEBA) data. The validation shows generally good agreement. The EOF analysis of the dataset shows that signals of large scale climate variations, such as El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), can be identified from the GEWEX SRB dataset.
