PA Systems for Indoor and Outdoor
Abstract
Sound reinforcement (SR) of the voice has allowed to build bigger halls and to address large gatherings. Between 1915 and 1960, public address (PA) systems were mainly used to address gatherings. The first recorded use of an outside PA system or SR system goes back to December 30th 1915 (Yaxley, 2003). In San Francisco, Governor Hiram Jones was intended to deliver a speech in the new Civic Auditorium. However, unfortunately he fell ill and engineers Jensen and Pridham thought of a solution of how to transmit Hiram Jones’ voice to the public.
