Utilizing a Lakota Worldview to Develop Science and Cultural Leadership for a new Generation: A Tribal College and University Case Study
Abstract
Sinte Gleska University and its strategic partners combine as a leadership and innovative force in the geosciences for Indigenous peoples by providing a collaborative scientific excellence and responsiveness to the specialized needs of American Indians. The presentation will share and explore the design, development and delivery of advanced learning environments and significant community support systems for American Indian peoples. It focuses on scientific knowledge and understanding of the Earth, advancing human exploration, use and development of Lakota Cultural applications - as connected to the Earth from an American Indian perspective. The outreach component seeks to apply science and cultural worldview perspectives to everyday challenges facing American Indians.
