Electron optical effects of a Pearl vortex near the film edge
Abstract
The solution for the vector potential associated with a Pearl superconducting vortex near the edge of the specimen is constructed by using a set of elementary solutions of the Laplace equation generated by currents flowing in the half plane and, on the same half plane, coincident with plane waves. The electron optical phase shift is then calculated for the case of the specimen tilted around an axis parallel to the edge and holographic and out-of-focus images simulated for various values of the distance of the vortex from the edge, in order to assess the feasibility of this experiment by means of a holographic electron microscope.
