Levitation of spinor Bose-Einstein condensates: Macroscopic manifestation of the Franck-Condon effect
Abstract
We study the dynamics of two-component Bose-Einstein condensates with vertically different trapping centers in the presence of an oscillating coupling field. This system provides a macroscopic analogue of the Franck-Condon effect with matter waves and shows how choosing appropriately the oscillation frequency of the coupling field leads to the levitation of the system against gravity.
