A new magnetograph system for the observation of the multi-height vector magnetic field of the Sun
Abstract
We developed a high-sensitivity imaging polarimeter using ferroelectric liquid crystals, and installed it in the Solar Flare Telescope to measure the polarization in the H α line and the Fe I 6303 line simultaneously. Now we are operating regular polarimetry observations for both the photosphere and the chromosphere with this advanced system. It will enable us to study the three-dimensional evolution of the vector magnetic field of active regions, which is essentially important to study active phenomena on the Sun. A brief description of the instrument and an example of the polarimetry data taken in the H α and the Fe I 6303 lines simultaneously are presented in this paper.
