Science Ethics in the High School Classroom: A Pilot Study Using Social Judgment Theory
Abstract
Using a quantitative Social Judgment Analysis with content informed by traditional western ethical theory, we analyzed students' response patterns before and after our educational intervention. Working with an advanced placement environmental science class at Rocky Mountain High School, the goal of our analysis was not simply to understand whether students changed their ethical decisions, but rather to understand how and whether they changed the structure of *how* they think about ethical questions in an environmental context.
