Development of a Magnetic Flux Control Type Variable Inductor and Application for Voltage Stabilization
Abstract
This paper describes a new type variable inductor and its applications to power controller for use in electric power system. First, we developed an EIE-core type variable inductor. The EIE-core type variable inductor has good control characteristics without gaps. It is suitable for large capacity variable inductor because the core is made of laminated iron core, and has not any gaps for harmonic current reduction. Next, we present a trial 6.6kV-300kVA Magnetic Flux Control Type Reactor (MFCR) for reactive power compensator based on the EIE-core type variable inductor. The MFCR has good control characteristics, simple structure and high reliability, low level current distortion, high-speed response, and low cost. Last, we demonstrate a Field-Test of the 6.6kV-300kVA MFCR, which is connected to the 6.6kV ac distribution system.
