SPHERE - Students as Professionals Helping Educators Research the Earth
Abstract
The SPHERE project consists of several cooperating elements that are designed to (i) support undergraduate participation from Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) in NASA Earth Science, (ii) provide educator support in GLOBE and (iii) create long term interdisciplinary partnerships between NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC), local universities and local K-12 educators. This program will combine (i) university partners' established reputation in fostering undergraduate research experiences, (ii) NASA LaRC's expertise in (a) Atmospheric Science research, (b) GLOBE Science protocols and (c) K-12 educator support and (iii) the expertise in educator training from the GLOBE Program. In this talk we present our program design, evaluation elements and long-term plans for sustained implementation.
