The TOVS Polar Pathfinder Data Set: Path-P, an update

The TOVS Polar Pathfinder data set provides atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles as well as cloud properties derived from the TOVS sensor package onboard the NOAA polar orbiting satellites. The data set spans the period 1980-2004 with coverage for the region of north of 60 degrees latitudes. The data set has been available for 4 years through the Snow and Ice Data Center and is currently undergoing reprocessing to update cloud detection algorithm and address calibration issues. An update on this effort draws on a multitude of datasets from various archives, particularly those from NSIDC will be provided. Recent research results using this data sets will be presented.
