CloudSat and A-train Observations of the Structure of Tropical Storms

CloudSat was launched on April 28th 2006 and began operational collection of data on June 2nd. At the time of writing this abstract, CloudSat has already made 21 overpasses of hurricanes revealing unique information about the structure of these storms. This presentation will provide a review of these new observations, and will document the both the composite structure of the storms observed by the CloudSat radar as well as the structure of a few individual storms. These observations will also be placed within the context of other observations obtained from near-coincident observations of the other sensors of the A-train.
