The Mysterious Nature of Dark Energy

I briefly review some theoretical models which give rise to an accelerating Universe. These "Dark Energy" models include the cosmological constant, scalar field models (quintessence) as well as braneworld models. Recent diagnostic tools for studying the properties of dark energy, such as the Statefinders, are also discussed.
