Detection of High Energy Particles Using Radio Frequency Signals
Abstract
We investigate the use of microwave emission to detect energy deposition by energetic particles. The 2003 Incoherent Bremsstrahlung (INCOBREM) experiment was developed to measure incoherent neutral bremsstrahlung from ionized air in 3 microwave bands, at 4, 10, and 20 GHz. Detection of such emission could have applications for detection of ultra-high energy cosmic ray air showers.
