Focussing effect in the diffracted field by a parabolic slit

In this paper we demonstrate theoretically and experimentally the existence of a focusing effect in the field diffracted by a parabolic slit on a plane screen. The focusing effect occurs along a straight line whose slope depends on the curvature of the parabola and on the incidence angle of the light on to the screen plane.
