Gross Moist Stability in the East Pacific
Abstract
In this work, we combine sounding and Doppler radar data to investigate the variability of the gross moist stability in the east pacific. The data were collected during EPIC-2001 (East Pacific Investigation of Climate 2001) by the NOAA ship Ronald H. Brown. We have analyzed data taken from September 10 to October 1. During this period, the ship was on station around 95 W, 10 N. An estimate for the gross moist stability is obtained by calculating the vertically integrated moist entropy flux from the data.
