Study of three magnetic storm events and their effects in the magnetospheric configuration depending of the time evolution of storms
Abstract
The objective of this work is to analyze the storm-time evolution of the ring current during the passage of different interplanetary structures. In order to study the magnetospheric global configuration, we have selected two intense magnetic storms (Dst<-100nT), one in days 21-24, April 2001 and other 27-30, October 2001, and one event of magnetic superstorm (Dst<-250nT), during March 30 to April 2, 2001. Geomagnetic Dst, Sym, Asy and AE indices are used to measure the global magnetospheric configuration. For the interplanetary environment, the plasma and magnetic field data measured by instruments on board the ACE and Wind spacecrafts will be used to identify the different interplanetary structures.
