High energy neutral emissions observed by the SONG experiment onboard CORONAS-F during some of the large October-November 2003 solar flares.
Abstract
From end of October to beginning of November 2003, active region (AR) 0486 produced nine large GOES class X flares. The SONG experiment on board the Russian solar observatory CORONAS-F has detected five of them. SONG instrument measures hard X-ray and gamma-ray emissions in the 50 keV-200 MeV energy range. In addition it can detect neutrons (>20 MeV) and protons (200-300 MeV). In this contribution we present and discuss the temporal and spectral characteristics the of 50 keV-200 MeV X-rays/gamma-rays and of some hundreds MeV solar neutrons fluxes detected during these large flares. The observations of particles escaping into the interplanetary medium are also considered.
