Further study of multi accelerator model for gamma ray pulsars
Abstract
Up to now, seven gamma-ray pulsars have been confirmed. Polar cap and outer gap model are presented in order to explain the gamma ray radiation form the pulsar. In this paper a new radiation model for gamma-ray pulsar is suggested. In the model, the gamma ray radiation and the radio radiation are investigated simultaneously basing on the polar cap sparking scenario. The acceleration and radiation process out of the polar gap are detailedly investigated. On the pulsar, the primary and secondary pairs are generated by the polar gap sparking and are accelerated by the space charge limit flow (CLF). Because the plasma is rather non-stationary, special relativistic effects will weaken the charge screen effect of the secondary pairs. Secondary pairs will always be accelerated out of the gap. This model leads to a new acceleration region and a new radiation region. The physical parameters of the new radiation region are investigated. The condition for a pulsar to be a gamma-ray pulsar, the luminosity of the pulsar, the spectrum, the light curve, the phenomenon of sub-pulse drift and many other observational facts can be well understood in the frame.
