Magnetic anisotropy of MBE grown MnPt 3 and CrPt 3 ordered alloy films
Abstract
CrPt3 and MnPt3 alloy films were grown onto MgO(1 1 1), Al2O3(0 0 1 c), and fused quartz substrates by MBE method. The (1 1 1) oriented CrPt3 films on fused quartz, Al2O3, and MgO exhibited uniaxial anisotropy Ku of 1.9×106, 0.9×106, and -1.0×106 erg/cm3, respectively. The MnPt3 on fused quartz and MgO exhibited Ku of -0.8×106 and -0.2×106 erg/cc, respectively. The Ku of CrPt3 and MnPt3 on fused quartz was found to be the contribution of the magneto-elastic anisotropy.
