Far Infrared Properties of M Dwarfs
Abstract
The Multi-band Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) team has been conducting a survey at 24, 70 and 160 microns of stars within 5 pc of the Sun. Our observations are about 50% complete and now contain measurements of a significant number of M dwarfs in the far IR. Measurements that detect the photospheres with good signal to noise ratio show no sign of circumstellar dust emission around any of the stars observed so far. We find that there is a strong correlation of redder K-24um colors with decreasing effective temperature.
