Quantum Interference of a Damped Free Particle
Abstract
We study the influence of damping on quantum interference of a particle in free space. Using the influence-functional method, we carry out an explicit evaluation of the time-dependent density matrix of the system for an exactly soluble model of a damped particle in free space. We describe the interference pattern as a function of the friction constant and the temperature.
