New Approach to the Spin-Orbit Scattering of Electrons in Disordered Metallic System
Abstract
We have developed a set of transport equations for electrons which are moving in disordered metallic systems, explicitly taking into account the electron spin. We have used the quantum mechanical phase-space distribution (the Wigner distribution function) for calculation of the transport coefficients as an alternative to the commonly applied Kubo-Greenwood formula. The results allow us to investigate the role of spin-orbit interaction in the region of weak localisation.
