Heavy Quark Production as a Baseline for the Quarkonium Production

In this contribution, we analyze the energy dependence of the ratio σ^J/Ψ/σ^DY, as well as the ratio ({σ ^J/{ψ }/σ ^{Qbar Q}}), in pA and AA processes, considering the high density effects expected to be present in the high energy collisions. We verify that a large quarkonium suppression is predicted if these effects are included in the calculations. Moreover, we demonstrate that the pA process can be used to make it evident and to estimate the magnitude of the high density effects.
