Fission Studies on 238U (1 AGeV) + Pb
Abstract
Projectile fission, induced in collisions of 238U (1 AGeV) with lead, has systematically been studied. About 600 isotopes of elements between gallium (Z=31) and praseodymium (Z=59) produced in the fission process were identified in nuclear charge and mass, and the production cross sections of these isotopes were determined. In addition, the velocity distributions of all the reaction products have been mapped. By having the access to the reaction kinematics allows resolving different reaction mechanisms.
