S11(1535) Resonance in Nuclei Studied with the C(γ, η) Reaction

The total cross sections of the (γ, η) reaction on C have been measured for photon energies between 620 and 1100 MeV at Tohoku University, in order to study the property of the S₁₁(1535) resonance in the nuclear medium. Model calculations based on the quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) have been performed. The comparison between the calculation and the experimental data suggests that the resonance property of S₁₁(1535) might be changed in nuclear interior.
