5Dimensional Spacetime with <EM>q</EM>Deformed Extra Dimension
Abstract
An attempt to obtain the nontrivial mass structure of particles in a RandallSundrum type of 5dimensional spacetime with a qdeformed extra dimension is discussed. In this spacetime, the fivedimensional space has no boundary, but there arises an elastic potential preventing free motion in the fifth direction. The qdeformation is, then, introduced in such a manner that a noncommutativity arises in the spacetime coordinates between the 4dimensional components and the fifth component. As a result of this qdeformation, the propagators of particles embedded in this spacetime naturally acquire an ultravioletcutoff effect without spoiling the Lorentz covariance in the 4dimensional spacetime.
