On the equiprobability of the allowed values of angularmomentum components in a p wave state
Abstract
We consider a p</em>wave state in which the three allowed values of the component of the angular momentum L along a particular direction (chosen as the z</em> direction) are equally probable and we show that the choice of the parameters needed in order to completely determine such a state identifies, through a relationship between the polar angles, infinitely many other specific directions = (ϑ,ϕ) along which the three possible values of the component of L are likewise equiprobable. If, on the contrary, we choose an arbitrary direction n, there are four possible choices of the parameters which give rise to a p</em>state in which the allowed values of the component of L along n are also equally probable.
