Flow field measurements of stable and locally extinguishing hydrocarbon-fuelled jet flames
Abstract
Turbulent combustion of non- and partially premixed hydrocarbon-based fuels such as methane is of practical importance in many technical applications. A basic understanding of these flames is greatly facilitated by studying simpler systems. For this purpose an international workshop on turbulent non-premixed flames (TNF) [1] has been established to define common test cases, to generate reliable experimental data sets, and to test as well as to compare numerical combustion models in terms of their prediction capabilities.
