Test-beam Measurements with the MINOS Calibration Detector
Abstract
The MINOS Calibration Detector is a small version of the MINOS Near and Far detectors. The detector is composed of 60 1 m × 1 m × 1 inch-thick iron plates. Mounted on each plate of iron is a plane of 24 4.1 cm-wide× 1 cm-thick plastic scintillator strips. The goal of the MINOS test-beam program is to provide calibration for the calorimetric and topological response for the Near and Far detectors. Over the past two years the Calibration detector has been exposed to beams of muons, electrons, pions and protons in test beams at the CERN PS. This program continues with additional running in 2003. In this talk we present preliminary results from the test-beam measurements taken during the past two years.
