Gathering Up the Brighter Stars in the Globular Cluster M4
Abstract
Multiple short exposures have been obtained of the globular cluster M4 using the CFHT 12k mosaic camera. With a field of view 28'x42' and a tidal radius of M4 at 44', the majority of the cluster has been imaged in both V and I over a magnitude range of 11--21. The result is a large, single coverage sample in the optical providing a spatially large and complete color-magnitude diagram. The resulting catalog will provide a projected density profile for imput to dynamical models with the turn-off and brighter populations added to deep HST studies (e.g., Richer et al. 2002; Hansen et al. 2002). Presented will be an initial summary of the results.
