Status of Michigan Polarized Proton Target
Abstract
The University of Michigan Polarized Proton Target is a 5 T, 1 K target built in the late 1980's for use, with radiation-doped NH3, in an intense proton beam. It is now being updated in preparation for use in the SPIN@U-70 experiment, planned to begin in 2002, at IHEP, Protvino, Russia. Ongoing improvements to the magnet, refrigerator pumping, NMR and microwaves will be discussed. Tests of target materials will also be discussed.
