Fundamentals of Superconductivity
Abstract
Those fundamental physical aspects of superconductivity needed for engineering of accelerator magnets and radiofrequency cavities are presented. Beginning with the classical free electron theory of metals, the modifications of this theory required by quantum mechanics are discussed. The general electrical and magnetic properties of superconductors follow. Chapters dealing with specific features needed for accelerator magnet and rf cavity design complete the work. General references where much more detail may be found are given.
