Ulysses-Wind simultaneous measurements of the electron density and temperature in the solar wind at solar maximum
Abstract
The radio receivers on the Ulysses and Wind spacecraft have continuously recorded spectra of the quasi-thermal plasma noise, from which the electron density and temperature in the solar wind can be determined. We present and compare the histograms of these thermal noise measurements obtained during 2000-2001 near the solar maximum, by Wind in the ecliptic plane and Ulysses along its second pole-to-pole fast transit.
