New Challenges in Regions of Doubly-Magic 48CA and 208PB
Abstract
Yrast state studies in the doubly-magic nuclei regions were performed using gamma spectroscopy techniques in deep-inelastic heavy-ion reactions. New results are presented involving the 48Ca and its closest one-particle (-hole) neighbors, as well as the 208Pb nucleus, in which the high-spin states up to approx. I = 26 were observed. Speculative spin-parity assignments and tentative interpretation are pointed as a challenge to further experimental and theoretical efforts.
