Photometric and Spectroscopic Observations of Three Interacting Binary Systems SW Lyncis, RR Draconis and IQ Persei at the SOAO and the BOAO in South Korea
Abstract
We carried out BVR photometric observations at the Sobaek Optical Astronomical Observatory (SOAO) from 2001 February to November and spectroscopic observations at the Bohyun Optical Astronomy Observatory (BOAO) from 2001 March to November for three interacting binary stars (IBSs) SW Lyn, RR Dra and IQ Per. From the photometric observations, we determined two minima for SW Lyn. We could reconfirm the orbital motion by a third body from the light curve and infer the possibility of mass transfer. For RR Dra, we determined one minimum time. From the spectroscopic observations, we tried to find out any distinguishable pattern of the Hα line profile, its periodicity and the relative strength of the Hα line. We also investigated the observed Hα line profile to detect the interaction between the gas stream and component stars. Although the intensity of the Hα line was weak, it is likely that a transient disk exists in SW Lyn, RR Dra and IQ Per.
