Educational Activities of Bisei Astronomical Observatory as an Example of Cooperation between Public Observatories and Local Schools
Bisei Astronomical Observatory is a public observatory established by the local government of Bisei Town. As a local center of astronomy education, we have several cooperative activities with local schools: summer schools for high school students, the astronomy club in Bisei Junior High School, and an astronomy training course for teachers in local schools. Such activities are also held in other public observatories. Public observatories play an important role in education in astronomy in Japan.
