Recent Laboratory Studies of Multiply Charged Ion Spectra Using High Resolution VUV Spectrographs
Abstract
This paper will survey some recent studies of VUV emission spectra from multiply charged ions using high resolution concave grating spectrographs, and particularly the 10 m vacuum spectrograph of the Paris-Meudon Observatory equipped with a 3600 l/mm holographic grating. Concave grating spectrographs are complementary with Fourier Transform Spectrometers for high resolution studies. They provide a wide spectral range and allow the operation of pulsed sources which are often necessary for production of multiply charged ions. Examples of the analysis of complex spectra taken from ions of the transition metals will be reported.
