Lunarsat Science Communication- Lunar Science and The Public
Abstract
LunarSat is a proposal to send a 120 microprobe into lunar orbit to investigate the suitability of the lunar south pole areas for a permanent human presence. One of the main goals is to involve more than 50000 youngsters into the endavour and investigate new ways of lunar science communication. The preliminary results of several pilot ini- tiatives are discussed, such as several large scale student contests and unconventional ways of teaching lunar science in school. Other projects presented include a CD-Rom projet on lunar science and LunarSat as well as other initiatives. The outreach activi- ties of the LunarSat mission are specifically carried out by several european teams on a university student level.
