183 GHz water vapor monitors
Abstract
Water vapor monitors (WVM) operating at 183 GHz have been built and used for phase correction of observations taken at 0.85 mm. We present Allan variances, find the optimal smoothing method and compare the WVM data to Fourier Transform Spectrometer data. Phase correction with these radiometers reduces the phase fluctuations significantly to about 140 microns rms. Phase correction using a theoretical conversion factor from brightness temperature to phase is as successful as choosing the optimal conversion.
