Impact of Deforestation on the Climate of West-central Africa
Abstract
Numerous logging concessions covering significant parts of the Congo rainforest in West-central Africa have been awarded recently. A regional atmopheric model (RAMS) was used to investigate the potential impact of this proposed deforestation. Results show that intensive logging can have significant impacts on the surface temperature and precipitation on a regional scale.
