Investigation of the Structure of Strongly Deformed Excited States in Heavy Nuclei by the Crystal Blocking Technique
Abstract
The crystal blocking technique has been used to measure the fission decay times in the natPt + 28Si(140-170 MeV), 232Th + p(6-8 MeV), 232Th + 3He(20-24 MeV) and 232Th + α(20-31 MeV) reactions. The experimental data are analyzed in the frames of the statistical theory of nuclear reactions with allowance for the lifetimes of the excited states of the first and second potential wells of the double-humped fission barrier and taking into account the shell effect damping with increase of nuclear temperature.
