Liquid nitrogen cooled X-ray monochromator for high total power loads
Abstract
A liquid nitrogen (LN) cooled X-ray monochromator has been designed and built for the high power loads of wigglers on the 500 mA SPEAR3 ring. The monochromator features two crystals sets for remote crystal changes, internally cooled first crystals with up to 10 atm LN coolant pressure, and low strain LN to vacuum seals. The system has been operated at one half the design total power with no thermal broadening of the rocking curve width.
